TOMSK, July 8 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) and Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) improved their positions among higher education institutions of the BRICS countries according to one of the most authoritative ratings Quacquarelli Symonds (QS); each of Tomsk universities went up three lines in the rating.
TSU and TPU entered top-15 the leading Russian higher education institutions in 2013 which get additional financing for increase of the international competitiveness. By 2020 five universities of the Russian Federation as minimum have to enter into the best hundred higher education institutions of the world, including the data of the British rating agency QS. TPU and TSU entered the four of leaders of the program in March."The rating of QS universities: BRICS 2015" is a rating of the best higher education institutions of the BRICS countries (Brazil, the Russian Federation, India, China and the Republic of South Africa). <…>; Criteria are reputation in the academic community, reputation among employers, a ratio of scientists and students, a share of employees with scientific degree, number of publications, a quoting of publications, a share of foreign teachers, a share of foreign students", - it is told on the QS website.
Higher education institutions of China are on the top of the rating: Tsinghua University, the 47th place of a world rating, Peking University, the 57th place in the world and Fudan University, the 71th place in the world. The Moscow State University (the 4th place) became the best Russian university, TSU is on the 44th place of the rating (the sixth in the Russian Federation), TPU is on the 64th (the 11th in the Russian Federation); they were on the 47th and 67th places in 2014.
Tomsk higher education institutions showed good results in different categories: TSU is on the 27th place on the number of foreign scientists (MSU is on the 43rd, TPU is on the 50th), and TPU is on the fifth on number of foreign students (MSU is on the sixth, TSU is on the 13th). TPU is on the 16th place on a ratio of scientists and students, TSU is on the 38th. Thus both higher education institutions weren't included even into the best hundred universities on printing activity and a quoting of publications.Tomsk State University of control systems and radio electronics is included into group 121-130 (last year 111-120); however there are no data, what result it received on each of indicators. Three more Tomsk state universities were not included into the rating.
