TOMSK, Oct 1 – RIA Tomsk. Two leading higher education institutions of Tomsk – Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and Tomsk State University (TSU) – entered top-800 the best HEIs of the world according to a prestigious rating of HEIs Times Higher Education (THE), and TPU got in top-300 and became the third among the Russian universities, is reported on the website of THE.
Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) is an annual world rating of higher education institutions, is formed by the Times Higher Education magazine. It is one of the most influential international university ratings. The analysis of activity consists of more than ten indicators, in particular, of the academic and scientific reputation, a quoting of scientific publications and others.
California Institute of Technology (USA), University of Oxford (Great Britain) and Stanford University (USA) head a new rating.
Last year the rating consisting of 400 positions included only two Russian higher education institutions: Moscow State University (MSU) and Novosibirsk State University (NSU). This year 13 Russian universities got in the rating which included 800 higher education institutions. MSU (the 161st place) and St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPbSPU, group 201-250) are in the lead.TPU is on the third place among the Russian higher education institutions, it got to group 251-300. Kazan Federal University (KFU) and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (group 301-350) are on the fourth. NSU along with St.Petersburg State University was included into group 401-500. One more Tomsk university – TSU is in the list of 13 Russian higher education institutions, it was included into group 601-800.
It was reported earlier that TSU and TPU improved the indicators in the world rating of higher education institutions QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) this year, and TPU time got in world top-500 this prestigious table of ranks for the first. Both Tomsk higher education institutions participating in the program of increase of the international competitiveness "5-100" were included into group 481-490.
