TOMSK, Mar 22 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk State (TSU) and Tomsk Polytechnic (TPU) universities entered the subject rating of universities of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) agency as one of the best in the world on teaching of modern languages, physics and astronomy, is informed on the site of the rating agency.
TSU and TPU in 2013 entered the top-15 leading Russian universities, which funding is allocated for increase of the international competitiveness – within the limits of it by 2020 at least five Russian universities should enter the hundred best universities in the world. Last year in QS subject rating from Tomsk universities was only TSU.
"QS World University Rankings by Subject reflects a rating of the best universities in the world on teaching of popular subject areas, in 2016 the review passes on 42 subjects. The rating published annually since 2011 is based on the academic reputation, reputation among employers and research reputation", – is told in the message.
According to the information placed on the QS site, TSU entered in the category of "Physics and Astronomy" (group of places 251-300, as in the previous year) and "Modern Languages" (group of places 251-300, last year - 301-400).TPU – is in the category of "Physics and Astronomy" (group of places 301-400). Other Tomsk universities were not included in the rating.
In total in the rating – are 17 Russian universities, the leader among them is Moscow State University – it is one of the best in 23 subject areas. Besides Tomsk only three non-capital universities entered QS rating: Novosibirsk State University, Kazan and Ural Federal Universities.
