Population of Tomsk following the results of 2015 has exceeded 590 thousand people, it has occurred both due to natural growth, and thanks to migration processes, during the regular report on work of municipal administration in the past year the mayor Ivan Klein has reported on Wednesday.
On Wednesday the mayor of Tomsk Ivan Klein has presented to deputies of the Duma of the city of Tomsk and the public the results of work of municipal administration in the past year, and also plans of the city hall for 2016.
"According to official data, on January 1, 2016 the number of residents of Tomsk has exceeded 590 thousand. We have reached this indicator at the expense of a natural increase of citizens – plus 2142 inhabitants – and due to migration processes – plus 2198 people", – he has told.
According to the city's mayor, by 2030 in accordance with the strategy of social and economic development of Tomsk the number of residents can exceed 700 thousand.
According to Tomskstat's data, the population of Tomsk on January 1, 2016 amounted 590,7 thousand people; in comparison with the beginning of 2015 it has increased by 4,3 thousand.
