TOMSK, Aug 15 – RIA Tomsk. The international conference "Radioactivity and Radioactive Elements in Human Environment" which will be attended by scientists from 14 countries, will take place in Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) in September, professor of the geoecology and geochemistry department of TPU Leonid Rikhvanov reported RIA Tomsk.
"The forthcoming scientific conference "Radioactivity and Radioactive Elements in Human Environment" is held in TPU for the fifth time. <…> In the conference, judging by the sent reports, and all them are 188, is supposed participation of scientists from 14 countries, including France, China, Mongolia, Germany, England, the USA, Lithuania, Kazakhstan and others ", – Rikhvanov told.
The interlocutor of agency specified that among participants there are also experts from the leading scientific centers of Russia. In particular, participation of the academician Rudolf Aleksakhin, the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexey Yablokov and other leading experts of Russia and foreign countries is supposed.
"The burning issues connected with the use of radioactivity and carriers of this phenomenon – radioactive elements will be discussed. <…> The most various questions are considered: from geochemistry and geology of strategic raw materials to the handling of radioactive waste (RW). Often materials are debatable", – he noted.According to him, in particular, there will pass the round table on mineral resources of strategic metals of the Russian Federation, the director of the All-Russian scientific research institute of mineral raw materials Grigory Mashkovtsev will direct it. Except the main actions there will pass the youth section where more than 50 scientists will take part. Conference will take place on September 14-16 in TPU. Action supports the Russian fund of basic researches.
TPU for more than 65 years prepares personnel for the nuclear branch of the country and has many scientific developments in this sphere. In the Tomsk region works the large enterprise of the nuclear branch of Russia – Siberian Chemical Plant (enters the structure of "Rostatom"), which for years of work accumulated a lot of waste.
In the next years on its platform the construction of disposal facilities for radioactive waste of the 3d and 4th classes is planned.
