TOMSK, Sep 6 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Institute of Monitoring of Climatic and Ecological Systems (IMCES) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science developed a geophysical registrar by means of which it is possible to predict earthquakes, estimate seismodanger of the territory and even to define the provision of a terrestrial kernel, the press service of the innovative organizations of the Tomsk region reports on Tuesday.
"The multichannel geophysical registrar MGR-01 represents small "suitcase" weighing about three kilograms. It was developed for measurement of the electromagnetic fields radiated by Earth. <…> The device has a wide range of application – from investigation of fields to monitoring of dangerous geological processes", – is said in the message.
It is added that the device surpasses foreign analogs in many parameters: it is compact, can predict an earthquake for a few days, and also differs with the increased accuracy. "Our equipment can be also set up on continuous monitoring. As soon as crust deformations begin, which happen before earthquakes, radiation will change, and devices will record it", – the press service quotes the senior research associate of IMCES Sergey Malyshkov.According to Malyshkov, now MGR-01 is used in system of monitoring on the main gas pipeline Urengoy – Pomary – Uzhhorod which partially passes in an landslide zone.
"On this gas pipeline there was such explosion when in nine kilometers in the next city stones fell from above. Since 2003 when we started to work there, any accident hasn't happened. Our system predicts landslide motions, and then gas workers either stop fuel transport, or transfer it to reserve threads", – Malyshkov says.
According to him, the device can also help scientists with crust researches, for example, if to place 15 complexes on the extent of the southern hemisphere, then it is possible even to trace a trajectory of the movement of a terrestrial kernel. Meanwhile it is defined by scientists only upon the movement – with the method of seismological observations.
