TOMSK, Sep 22 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) and Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) were included into 600 best higher education institutions of the world in the rating of Times Higher Education (THE), is reported on Thursday on the website of the ratings.
Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) is one of the most influential annual world rankings of higher education institutions, is constituted by the Times Higher Education magazine. It considers five indicators: quality of teaching; amount and authoritativeness of scientific activities and income from it, quoting; share of foreign students and teachers and international cooperation; income gained thanks to practical application of scientific potential.
According to the rating, TPU and TSU are in 501-600 place, having shown the ninth result among the Russian higher education institutions. TSU received 38,2 of 100 points for quality of teaching, 48 for the international activities, 22,8 for scientific activities, 15,4 for quoting, and 61,8 points for profitability indicator.Quality of teaching of TPU is estimated on 31,3 points, the international activities – 40,6, scientific activities – 16,2, quoting – 43,2, budget – 59,1 points.
In the rating University of Oxford is on the first place which gathered in the sum on five indicators 95 points; California Institute of Technology is on the second which gathered 94,3 points; Stanford University is on the third which got 93,8 points. The rating included 24 Russian higher education institutions. The best result among them was shown by Moscow State University: 188th place, 51,5 points.
Earlier it was reported that TSU and TPU enter top-15 the leading Russian higher education institutions according to which not less than five universities of the Russian Federation have to enter into one hundred the best higher education institutions of the world by 2020. In 2016 both higher education institutions significantly improved the positions in other world ranking of higher education institutions – QS (Quacquarelli Symonds). This year they entered top-400 the best higher education institutions of the world for the first time, having risen from 481-490 places to 377 (TSU) and 400 (TPU).
