TSU scientists found record productive method to produce nanoparticles

TOMSK, Oct 21 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk State University (TSU) improved the known way of receiving nanoparticles therefore the productivity of the method was the highest in the world, the press service of the higher education institution reported on Friday.

It is explained that the method of laser ablation in liquid is applied since 1993. Its essence is that the target from a certain material is located in liquid and is irradiated with the focused laser impulses. After that material evaporates from its surface, turning into plasma. When cooling plasma in liquid, nanoparticles without foreign impurity are formed – colloidal solution is got.

"Scientists of the Siberian Physical-Technical Institute of TSU optimized technology of synthesis of unique nanoparticles by method of a pulse laser ablation in liquid that gives the chance to receive hundreds of liters of colloidal solutions of nanoparticles or tens of grams of various nanopowders a month. Such productivity hasn't been managed to reach by anybody in the world yet", – it is said in the message.

It is specified that it was succeeded to find a new method during the researches. Scientists determined a number of consistent patterns between thermophysical properties of materials of targets, solvents, optical properties of nanoparticles and features of ablation process, thanks to which outstanding performance of reaction remains for a long time.

According to the higher education institution, the scientists receive samples of nanoparticles by means of the laser ablation long ago. However, the method was applied generally to production of the prototypes used for basic researches because of low production. TSU scientists could increase performance considerably, and the method, perhaps, will be used in the practical purposes.

It is added that among persons interested in order of nanomaterials are scientists of higher education institutions and institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science. "Our method, thanks to high variability, can effectively be used at a stage of researches in the field of creation of new nanomaterials. And already then it is possible to scale them by other method", – the head of Laboratory of new materials and perspective technologies Valery Svetlichny is quoted in the message.
