TOMSK, Nov 17 – RIA Tomsk. The publishing house of the Tomsk State University (TSU) published the "Dictionary of synonyms of the Siberian dialect", which doesn't have analogs in Russia and abroad, the press service of the higher education institution reported on Thursday.
It is specified that the release of the edition was financed by the endowment fund of the university. The collection continues the multivolume series Vershininsky dictionaries – the project on studying of one of Russian century-old traditional dialects of the Middle Priobye (a dialect of the villages Vershinino, Baturino and Yarskoye).
"Synonymous dictionary is the most difficult type of the dictionary because of the specific structure and semantics of the word, its unsteadiness, mobility, insufficient definiteness. Such dictionary on dialect material is even more difficult. And not incidentally there are no published dialect dictionaries of synonyms in Russia", – it is said in the message.
According to the higher education institution, dialect dictionaries in general represent the richest material for researches; historians, geographers, linguists, writers actively use them. Among those, who were guided by dictionaries of dialectologists of TSU in the work, are writers Victor Astafyev and Valentin Rasputin.Scientific personnel of the higher education institution was conferred the state award in 1997 for researches of the century-old traditional dialects and creation of dictionaries.
