TOMSK, Nov 24 – RIA Tomsk, Eleonora Chernaya. The Tomsk State University (TSU) will start the course "My Friend is a Robot" on the educational online platform Coursera in November; according to the higher education institution, it is the Russia's first educational track devoted to "human" problems of robots, the press service of TSU reported on Thursday.
Coursera is a popular world educational online platform. TSU is one of six partner universities of Coursera in Russia. 16 free online courses of TSU, including the first Russian specialization in the field of SMM marketing and business are placed on the platform.
"It is the first course developed by the Russian scientists, which is devoted to "social evolution" of robots, when they become more than just assistants. Listeners of the course will be able not only to understand why we are frightened by the robots similar to people, but also to think up the social robot", – it is said in the message.
It is specified that the course of TSU "My Friend is a Robot" starts on November 28 and it is expected wide audience of listeners. It can be useful to the engineers developing robots and any personal devices: within social robotic technology it is studied what interface is better perceived by users and what functions are important for them."In particular, students will be able to learn opinion of experts and developers, who create social robotic platforms: this is the head of Skolkovo Robotics Center Albert Yefimov, the chief robotics engineer of the Hoaloha Robotics company (Seattle, the USA) Pavel Hizhnyak and others", – the press service reported.
The experts will discuss a role of culture in formation of ideas about robots, features of their perception and ethical aspects of social interaction of a person and a robot. Specially created robot will help to understand it, students will be able to choose a name for it. Besides, students will try out as developers and will present the concept of the social robot following the results of the course.
