TOMSK, Jan 9 - RIA Tomsk, Karina Sapunova. Scientists of Tomsk State University (TSU) develop a method which will allow to predict eruptions of volcanoes on composition of air and the plane crashes connected with low-quality fuel – on composition of exhaust gases, the press service of the university reported on Monday.

"The graduate student Oleg Egorov develops methods of diagnostics of the exhaust gases emitted during the operation of jet engines, eruption of volcanoes, functioning of the industrial enterprises, cars and other. <…> The scientist works with ranges of oxides of hydrogen, carbon, sulfur and nitrogen – molecules of these gases are formed both at fuel combustion, and at oxidizing processes in the nature", – is said in the message.

It is specified that the gases emitted by each technogenic or natural object have the unique characteristic. And if to compare parameters with "reference", then it is possible to watch how processes in objects proceed and whether they are dangerous or not in real time.

"If the number of molecules of dioxide of sulfur in the gas streams proceeding from a volcano increases, the probability of eruption increases; having recorded it, it is possible to prevent catastrophe. It is possible to judge also quality of fuel, for example, of aviation kerosene. There are admissible standards of concentration, if exhaust gases don't correspond to them, <…> there can be a crash plane", – quoted Egorov.

It is noted that also control of exhausts will allow to monitor processes of formation of acid rains which are a consequence of interaction of exhaust gases with water vapor.

It is added that the method will allow to carry out diagnostics not on the taken samples, but remotely. It is based on the analysis of ranges of absorption of gases – length and intensity of optical radiation after passing through molecules of exhaust gas. This way is more effective and operational. Egorov is awarded the Russian President's grant, the project is supported by the Russian Federal Property Fund.
