TOMSK, Jan 10 – RIA Tomsk, Karina Sapunova. Specialists of Tomsk State University (TSU) completed the creation of 3D-model of the mummy boy, who lived in the XIII century - the remains of a child were found in the permafrost of the Yamal Peninsula, the head of laboratory "Artefact" Olga Zaytseva reported RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that the mummy of the boy of six-seven years who lived in the XIII century was found in the summer of 2015 on the archaeological Green Yar complex (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area). Not only the child's remains, but also the funeral stock (temporal rings, seal-ring and the reduced copy of the bronze axe) accompanying him were digitized.
"The mummified remains were found. Natural mummification - it is not as in Egypt when body was processed in a special way, but mummification in the conditions of permafrost and under the influence of chemical processes. Following the results of excavation of 2015 we did digitization of a mummy of the boy. Work is complete", – Zaytseva told.
She specified that now the digitized materials are already transferred to the Yamal-Nenets district museum exhibition complex, the video following the results of work is published in open access.
Earlier it was also reported that the three-dimensional model can be used for scientific studying of a mummy and, perhaps, for its museum exhibiting.
