The board of directors of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS) made the final decision on carrying out in Tomsk in 2017 of the World Championship on finswimming and marathon finswimming, the press service of the regional administration reports on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that in 2016 in Tomsk there passed the world cup-final on finswimming. The center of water sports of the Olympic class "Zvezdniy" opened in 2015 become the platform for competitions. Later it has transpired about plans to hold in Tomsk a world championship-2017 on finswimming.
It is noted that the chief of the regional department of information policy Alexey Sevostyanov presented a video of the Tomsk region at a meeting of CMAS in Rome. Reminded of successful experience of carrying out of the World Cup final on finswimming, he noted, that World Championship will also take place at the high level.
"In 1959, along with CMAS creation, in Tomsk the first underwater clubs were created. The Tomsk school of scuba diving which gave dozens of champions and world record-holders is for the whole world known. We invite with pleasure the best athletes of the planet to show that such Siberian hospitality and that the strongest will return from Tomsk with a victory", – is quoted Sevostyanov in the message.
It is noted that the president of CMAS Anna Arzhanova emphasized at a meeting that the Tomsk region deserved the right to hold a world championship. "We estimated the level of carrying out the World Cup final last year. Thanks to the governor and his team, efforts of Federation of underwater sport of the Tomsk region Tomsk proved that it can hold competitions of the highest level", – she told."The board of directors of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS) at a meeting of the organization in Rome unanimously approved the decision on holding a World Championship on finswimming in Tomsk.
