TOMSK, Feb 15 – RIA Tomsk, Karina Sapunova. Tomsk took 91 place in the ranking of the best student's cities of the world, is reported on the website of the QS agency (Quacquarelli Symonds), which releases one of the most authoritative universities world rankings.
On the website of QS is specified that by drawing up of the rating were considered a position of the universities in international rankings, numbers of students in the city in general and a share of foreign students, the standard of living, popularity of universities at employers, economic availability of education. For the first time this year the criterion "students view" is applied – opinions of students and recent graduates.
Tomsk scored a total of 218 points. In the city there are two universities entering the world rankings (Tomsk State and Tomsk Polytechnic universities), expenses of foreign students are estimated on average at 2,4 thousand dollars, on economic availability Tomsk takes the 7th place, in popularity of employers – the 92nd, by estimates of students – the 106th, on the standard of living – the 109th.Compilers of the rating paid attention to universities and scientific organizations which made Tomsk one of the strongest innovative centers in the country, and also the strong companies both in hi-tech and in traditional spheres of business. Besides, they note that Tomsk – the only member of Asian Network of Major Cities (ANMC21), not being the capital.

In Tomsk – the small, quiet university city with a large number of students – there are brisk cafes and art platforms, and its distinctive feature is the picturesque style reminding "gingerbread lodges", based on traditional wooden architecture", – is added in the description of the city.
In the first place of the ranking is Montreal (478 points), on the second – Paris (467 points), on the third – London (463 points). From the Russian cities top 100 entered Moscow (39th place, 349 points), St. Petersburg (78th place, 242 points), Novosibirsk (93rd place, 216 points).
