TOMSK, Feb 17 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) figured out how to use meander lines used on printed circuit boards to protect electronics from the "harmful" pulses; development will be useful for the protection and security systems of banks, space equipment, told RIA Tomsk one of the developers Alexander Nosov.
According to him, meander line of a delay in itself – is not a find, they are used on printed circuit boards for synchronization of signals. However, TUSUR scientists have for the first time suggested to apply them to protection of the critical radio-electronic equipment to which it is possible to carry, for example, "hardware" of a banking system of security.
"There was an incident when terrorists managed to disable the bank's alarm at distance using devices manufactured in amateurish conditions, – using a short impulse having a short duration, but huge amplitude. Our line can display this impulse on the sequence of impulses of smaller amplitude that doesn't allow to put the key equipment out of action", – the scientist told.According to the scientist, the same lines, but in other configurations, can be used also for protection against the electrostatic category of the expensive radio-electronic equipment used in spacecrafts. "If to put our device on an entrance in radio-electronic equipment or in it critical knots, it will also display an interfering impulse, preventing equipment malfunction", – Nosov explained.
He noted that the Tomsk development has no analogs, scientists have already received four patents for its application. Now they continue research work and are actively engaged in commercialization of the project.
