TOMSK, Feb 27 – RIA Tomsk, Karina Sapunova. The Engineering Center of Inorganic Materials opened on Monday at the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU); the new division will be engaged in development of new technologies for production and processing of ores, including strategically important materials as oxides of tungsten and beryllium, tells the correspondent of RIA Tomsk.
"We open the engineering center today. It is the joint project of the Ministry of Education and Science and Minpromtorg. The project on the engineering centers can be won only once. This center is about technologies of development and creation of new inorganic materials. <…> The center will be a link between technologies of mountain production and deep processing of raw materials", – the vice rector for scientific work Alexander Dyachenko noted.
He specified that the total area of the center – is 425 square meters, there work 15 people. On its creation the higher education institution received a grant in the amount of 30 million rubles. The center will consist of the laboratory platform and pilot production (now the capacity is 10 tons per year, it will be enough for development of technology and calculation of parameters for full production).The rector Petr Chubik added that the center will have three main areas of work.
"To the country was competitive in the world market, it is necessary to have some unique methods of enrichment and complex processing of ores. On the other hand, we have today a huge amount of the fulfilled ore, <…> which contains a large number of useful components. The third point – is receiving of various rare metals – <…> we have already sounded all over the country with beryllium", – he noted.
According to the university, technologies which will develop in the new center, will allow to make processes of production and processing of ore cheaper, more effective and safer. Also there will improve technologies of extraction of strategically important materials – dioxide of the titan, oxide of tungsten, metal beryllium and others.
