TOMSK, Jul 4 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Biological institute of Tomsk State University (BI TSU) together with University of South Bohemia plan to open laboratory of hydrobiology and aquaculture for research of ecological physiology of fishes, the press service of the university reports on Tuesday.
Earlier it was reported that it is planned to construct aquabiocenter in the Tomsk region where especially valuable species of river fishes, in particular, Siberian sturgeon, will be grown up, inexpensive compound feeds will be produced and businessmen will be trained. Costs of design and construction will make about 1 billion rubles. It is expected that construction can begin in 2018.
"Tomsk region commit to active renewal of fish breeding, construction of the largest aquabiocenter is planned, therefore the need for training of specialists – fish breeders, ichthyologists, ichtioparasitologists and hydrobiologists – considerably increases", – the press service quotes the director of the BI TSU Daniil Vorobyov.
It is noted that the biologists of TSU plan to work on the solution of the personnel problem together with the Czech ichthyologists. The management of the BI discussed the creation of the laboratory of hydrobiology and aquaculture on the basis of TSU with the leading European expert in the field of fish breeding, scientist of University of South Bohemia Jan Kouril."The laboratory, which creation we discussed with Jan Kouril will allow to start projects on a research of ecological physiology of fishes for creation of a highly productive aquaculture", – Vorobyov considers.
According to TSU, it is necessary to construct special installation of the closed water supply to start the new laboratory. It will allow scientists to fulfill techniques of cultivation of fishes (squamous, tench, African clarion catfish), which will take root in the aquabiocenter subsequently. The volume and sources of investments aren't specified.
It is also reported that professor Kouril is ready to participate in training of fish breeders in TSU and expressed readiness to give lectures to the BI TSU's students. He is ready to involve 4-5 more scientists with wide practical experience in area of aquaculture to work in laboratory and to teach in the BI.
