TOMSK, Nov 13 – RIA Tomsk. Group of scientists of Tomsk State University (TSU) develops a line of high-strength alloys on the basis of synthesis of magnesium matrix and nanopowders which can be used in avia – and automotive industry and also in sea shipbuilding, the innovation portal of the Tomsk region reports on Monday.
"The team of young scientists of Tomsk State University develops high-strength magnesium alloys for automotive industry, aircraft and sea shipbuilding", – it is said in the statement.
With reference to the research associate of TSU Anton Khrustalyov it is explained that magnesium matrix is at the heart of the original alloys of various metals developed by scientists. It includes nanoparticles which properties are improved by a special covering for the best wettability and digestibility of magnesium matrix.
It is specified that the technological process which is the cornerstone of the Tomsk development allows to reduce the price significantly of production of alloys for production of details and units as actually it is usual foundry technology, but with know-how which allows to save and increase quality of production. By calculations of the Tomsk scientists, magnesiim alloys will be significantly cheaper than the analogs applied in the industry."These alloys have very broad application – for example if to make an engine block cylinder of such metal, it will give advantage in the weight and fuel efficiency … We expect to bring development to industrial use and will be the first who enters the market as similar projects generally are at a stage of researches", – Khrustalyov's words are cited in the message.
It is also reported that the results received by the researchers will be commercialized by the small innovative enterprise SPE Splav-T. The team of developers into which six young scientists enter won a grant of Foundation for Assistance to Innovations "Start". In three years the developers plan to bring a scientific product to industrial production.
