TOMSK, Nov 23 – RIA Tomsk. The theme of the annual competition-festival of ice sculpture "Crystal Tomsk" will be the forces of nature in Russian and Siberian folklore, images of animals, plants, birds and natural elements will be presented in the composition, the press service of the mayor's office reports on Thursday.
Earlier it was reported that the festival of ice sculptures "Crystal Tomsk" will take place at Novosobornaya Square in Tomsk from December 11 to December 16. 20 teams from Russia, China and Serbia will take part in it.
"This year forces of nature will become a subject of the fourth international festival of ice sculptures "Crystal Tomsk": images of animals, birds, plants and natural elements in the Russian and Siberian folklore", – it is said in the statement.
It is noted that preparation of ice for the festival has already begun on Thursday, and 20 participating teams will gather in Tomsk on December 10. With reference to the mayor of Tomsk Ivan Klein it is reported that this year the platform for holding the competition was expanded: ice sculptures will appear not only along Lenin Avenue, but also on the avenue conducting the fountain and Sovetskaya Street."The theme of the festival is chosen not accidentally, we are completing the Year of Ecology in Russia. Our nature is so rich that masters can create in full force," – Klein is quoted.
Also it was reported that "Crystal Tomsk" started in 2014. In December participants represent the works for the competition then ice sculptures remain on Novosobornaya square until the end of winter. In the 2015th, which was announced Year of Literature works of Alexander Pushkin were the subject of the festival, in the 2016th – the Soviet film fairy tales by the director Alexander Rou.
