TOMSK, Dec 11 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk athlete Viktor Belyaev, competing as a part of the Russian team at the III Kyokushin World Championship, won a gold medal, ahead of athletes from Japan, Bulgaria and Hungary, the press service of the Department on Youth Policy, Physical Educatoin and Sport of the Tomsk region said on Monday.
It is specified that the III Kyokushin World Championship were held on December 9-10 in Yekaterinburg. Athletes from 53 countries took part in the competition. In men, fights took place in nine weight classes, in women – in six.
"As part of the Russian national team appeared the athlete from the Tomsk region Viktor Belyaev. In the discipline "male kumite up to 75 kilograms" he won gold", – is said in the statement.
It is noted that the silver in this discipline went to the athlete from Japan Masazumi Nakayama, the third place was shared by Georgy Doychev (Bulgaria) and Roza Gabor (Hungary).It is added that all in the World Championship the Russian team won 13 medals, seven of which are gold.
