TOMSK, Jan 8 – RIA Tomsk. Radiophysics of Tomsk State University (TSU) created installation for levitation of small particles in acoustic field; new method of ultrasonic 3D-printing, which can be used for hot chemically aggressive solutions or substances, will be developed on its basis by 2020, the press service of the university reported.

It is reported that the installation for levitation consists of the anechoic camera covered with absorbers of waves, and radiators. Particles are in hover in a stream of acoustic waves (40 kHz), it is possible to increase their quantity and the size depending on power. By means of specially created program levitated particles can be operated and moved here and there.

"We have to develop technology of 3D-printing by 2020. The first stage is a controlled levitation of particles, then we will create a method of manipulation with group of particles on this basis to assemble three-dimensional objects from them", – the press service quotes the project manager, professor of TSU Dmitry Sukhanov.

It is noted that work is carried out within a grant of the Russian Science Foundation, 15 million rubles are allocated for the project. The technology is planned to be applied, in particular, to installation of components on printed circuit boards and to work with chemically aggressive substances, for example, as acids or substances warmed to high temperatures.

"We apply own lattices of ultrasonic radiators, we develop a system of parallel control of radiators and software. For achievement... of the goal the combination of digital technologies of transfer and processing of large volume of data, technologies of synchronous generation and strengthening of signals and solutions of acoustic and aerodynamic tasks is necessary", – Sukhanov noted.

Early it was also reported that TSU radiophysics together with the industrial partner of JSC NPO NIKOR plan to develop control algorithms of an ultrasonic signal for surgical instruments – scalpels, knives and saws. The modified tools will allow to perform operations quicker and more safely.
