TOMSK, Jun 5 – RIA Tomsk. The second part of the anniversary celebrations devoted to the 140 anniversary of Tomsk State University (TSU) will take place in September 2018; if May festive actions were for present students, then September will be for the staff and graduates of different years, representative of the press service of TSU reported to RIA Tomsk on Tuesday.
Earlier it was reported that festive actions in honor of the 140 anniversary of TSU take place in two stages: in May-June and September. In particular, the procession of students of TSU along Lenin Avenue took place on June 1.
"May series" (celebrations) were devoted to students, and September history will be focused on employees and teachers of TSU and guests – representatives of other universities and partner enterprises which will arrive to the celebration of the anniversary. For them we will carry out not only the academic, but also warm "family" actions", – the interlocutor of the agency told.
Within "September series" of celebrations the management of the university invites graduates of different years to organize meetings of classmates, the interlocutor of RIA Tomsk emphasized. Applications for holding faculty meetings can be sent to the address of Association of Graduates of TSU: alumni@mail.tsu.ruEarlier it was also reported that the monument to professors and founders of the university Dmitry Mendeleyev and Vasily Florinsky will be established in September in honor of the 140 anniversary of TSU in the University grove. According to the interlocutor, money for creation of the sculpture is donated by patrons. The meeting of the international academic council of TSU and opening of the center of business at the Institute of Economics and Management will also take place in September.
Tomsk State University was founded in 1878 as the Imperial Tomsk University and became the first university in the Asian part of Russia. Today TSU is the classical university of research type, the center of science, education and innovations, is among the universities – leaders of the federal project 5-100.
