TOMSK, Jul 2 – RIA Tomsk. Chemists of Tomsk State University (TSU) develop a molecular filter based on microspheric zeolite sorbents, which will make it possible to purify natural gas from unnecessary impurities; the technology will extend the life of gas pipelines, is reported on the innovative portal of the Tomsk region on Monday.
It is specified that in development of technology of receiving a new form of zeolite sorbents for natural gas purification are engaged the student of TSU and the employee of Engineering Chemical Technological Сenter (ECTC) of the university, the winner of the UMNIK-2017 competition Alfiya Utaganova.
"For the purification and drying of natural gases, chemists are developing a technology for obtaining a new form of zeolite microspheric one. The gas will pass through the sorbent layer and be cleaned of undesirable impurities. The microspheric zeolite will be about one millimeter in size: this material wears less from the friction inside the plant and remains durable, not losing the necessary properties", – is said in the statement.
It is noted that natural gas usually contains impurities that degrade the state of gas pipelines and cause corrosion. The development will prolong the service life of gas pipelines and improve the performance of sorption installations."Zeolites in the form of microspheres can be used up to four years, after regeneration they can again and again sorb unwanted impurities from natural gas", – Utaganova is quoted.
It is added that in Russia such products are not produced now - imported microspheric sorbents from Germany, China and France are used in the industry. At the moment, Tomsk scientists have developed a laboratory installation on which the technology will be worked through.
