TOMSK, Jul 30 – RIA Tomsk. Biologists of Tomsk State University (TSU) found out that drosophila flies develop more slowly in the nutrient medium prepared in microwave, than in environment of the same structure, but prepared with an electric stove; it is indirect sign that microwave radiation has negative effect on the irradiated object, press service of university reports.
It is specified that biologists of TSU made a series of the experiments directed to studying of influence of microwave radiation on live organisms and food. A fruit drosophila fly was used as an object for tests. Insects were placed in test tubes with the media prepared in two different ways – in the microwave oven and with an electric stove – and estimated dynamics of their number and development within a week.
"The results of the experiments have shown that on the nutrient medium prepared with an electric stove, drosophilas surpassed in the speed of development of the individuals developing on the medium of the same structure, but prepared in the microwave oven approximately for 24 hours. According to the researchers, it is an indirect indicator of negative impact of electromagnetic waves on an irradiated object", – it is said in the statement.
It is noted that the difference in speeds of development of drosophilas on the media prepared in the microwave and in an electric stove is confirmed for different genotypes.
"Influence of microwave radiation on quality of daily food is still not studied authentically. Only few researches on this problem represent scientific value, their big part has populist character. Therefore comprehensive study of consequences of use of household microwave ovens is relevant and draws attention of our students", – the press service quotes the associate professor of cytology and genetics of the BI TSU Yury Novikov. It is added that this experiment was made by the second-year student of the Biological Institute (BI) of TSU Ilya Zhelyabovsky. Earlier similar research, but about influence of electromagnetic waves of mobile phones, was conducted by the BI TsU'S undergraduate Marina Kostromeeva. It was stated that long influence of mobile phones leads to change of structure of cages of an epithelium of inside of a cheek.
