TOMSK, Aug 8 – RIA Tomsk. Graduate student of Faculty of Psychology of Tomsk State University (TSU) Dmitry Egorov disproved existence of a difference in perception of lies from men and women; in particular he doesn't agree that women perceive deception more emotionally, the press service of the university reports on Wednesday.
It is specified that the research was conducted under the leadership of the doctor of psychological sciences Oleg Lukyanov. About 30 young men and girls from 18 to 21 year participated in the experiment. They were offered two false texts for comparison. The first was stylized under news about the military conflict between fictional tribes. The second described the dwarfism reason at pygmies, as proofs the personal opinion of the author was given.
"We wanted to allocate the strategy of perception of similar messages, uncertain concerning the truth. We assumed that women will perceive more emotionally false messages, and it will be the main difference in the strategy of perception of men and women … The hypothesis of differences in emotional perception of false texts wasn't confirmed", – the press service of the university quotes Egorov.
The psychologist came to a conclusion the more interesting and understandable the message containing the lie, the more likely that the person will read it. The research shown, that it is easy to deceive men, and women – enough to make a lie interesting and logically convincing, it is noted in the message."Neither men, nor women noticed that the messages were false. It can say that abilities to distinguish deception, perhaps, don't exist. We already know a lot of things about deception indicators … But this knowledge and technology of distinction of a lie and truth isn't brought to students of significant result yet", – the press service quotes the author of the research.
It is noted that taking into account the type of perception or relation of a person to the message containing a lie can open new ways of the research and designing of techniques of recognition of deception. The graduate student plans to study internal processes of understanding of messages by a person in more detail that will help to distinguish fakes in the Internet, false news or deception in advertising.
