TOMSK, Oct 11 – RIA Tomsk. Young scientist from Yakutia, undergraduate of department of paleontology of Tomsk State University (TSU) Konstantin Protodyakonov won a competition of scientific stand-ups Science Slam, having told about the "doggies" living 12 thousand years ago in the territory of modern Yakutia, the correspondent of RIA Tomsk reports on Thursday.
Earlier it was reported that six young scientists will battle in scientific fight within the Tomsk forum U-NOVUS on Thursday. Under the terms of the competition, each of slammer had to tell about the research in 10 minutes, the audience should estimate performances.
As the correspondent reported, organizers measured reaction of the audience – applause and exclamations – on performances of slammers with a sound level meter. As a result audience supported the young scientist from Yakutia, the undergraduate of TSU Konstantin Protodyakonov more loudly who told about the research of ancient animals – the "doggies" living in the territory of modern Yakutia 12 thousand years ago.
"Our finds are unique. I think, many (the audience in the hall) saw for the first time doggies which remained for 12 thousand years. As the genetic analysis shows, it were rather dogs, than wolves", – the winner of the scientific fight told RIA Tomsk.
Protodyakonov told in the stand-up about the expeditions on permafrost zone in Yakutia, having submitted photos and video from excavation where the remains of mammoths and small mysterious animals who, presumably, were dogs were found. For fun he suggested the audience to find it in the general picture of participants of an expedition – students of the Yakut East Siberian State University, having caused the audience applause. Upon termination of this university Protodyakonov continued training in TSU master course at the department of paleontology.Science Slam is a format of promoting of science, which arose in Germany within which young scientists present researches during fascinating stand-up show in an informal situation.
Earlier it was reported that the forum U-NOVUS takes place on October 9-13 in Tomsk. Its program includes platforms of new formats instead of traditional panel discussions, round tables and reports: workshops, networking, design sessions, art residences.
