TOMSK, Nov 30 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and University of Burgundy - Franche-Comté (UBFC) intend to launch joint double degree diploma master programs in physics and materials science in the new academic year, the press service of TPU reported on Friday.
Earlier it was reported that in 2017 the universities signed a statement of intent on international cooperation. In total, the history of joint scientific and educational work of TPU and UBFC has more than 10 years.
"The rector of TPU Petr Chubik and the President of the University of Burgundy - Franche-Comté (UBFC) Nicolas Chaille signed in Tomsk a framework agreement on organizing joint master's degree programs of double degree diploma level", – is said in the report.
It is specified that from the new academic year (2019/2020) it is planned to launch the programs "Physics and its application", as well as "Materials Science and Engineering". The question of organizing of joint master programs in chemistry, computer science, ecology, management and other areas is being discussed.
"In the international university cooperation, double degree diploma master programs - are perhaps the most important link. After all, our universities have students for whose fate and future we are together responsible", – Chubik is quoted in the message.With reference to Nicolas Chaille, it is reported that interaction with TPU, implemented within the framework of master's programs, – is the basis of the UBFC development strategy.
“Today we want to write a new page in the history of our long-standing cooperation. The implementation of the agreement will allow our universities to become even stronger, the agreement itself means that students who study joint programs will receive a diploma from both TPU and UBFC. Such programs are useful as concrete steps to go to the level of world-class universities", – the press service quoted him as saying.
The University of Burgundy – Franche-Comté (UBFC) – is the association of higher education institutions and research institutes, officially established in France in 2015 as the “union of universities and institutes”. About 60 thousand students study at UBFC, 11% of them – are from other countries.
