TOMSK, Jan 14 – RIA Tomsk. The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Novosibirsk Peter-Christoph Otto Blomeyer arrived in Tomsk on Monday and discussed cooperation plans with representatives of the Russian-German House (RGH); as a gift to Tomsk was organized a concert of the German "king of boogie woogie" Axel Zwingenberger, reports RIA Tomsk correspondent.
According to Blomeyer, this is his first visit to the Tomsk Region after he was appointed Consul General in Novosibirsk in December 2018. On the first day of his stay, he became acquainted with the architecture of Tomsk, and also visited the Russian-German House, where he discussed with its representatives plans for further cooperation.
"I am glad that you are putting the main task of preserving German culture ... But for the general consulate is of great importance not only the preservation of what was in the past, but also a look into the future ... I want you to think how it is possible to present (to the Tomsk citizens) a picture of the life of modern Germany”, – Blomeyer noted.
He specified that, first of all, it is necessary to tell the young generation about what the young people of Germany now live in, to acquaint the Tomsk citizens with the cultural life of Germany. He added that residents of Tomsk will be able to get acquainted with contemporary German art on Tuesday, January 15, in the Organ Hall of the Tomsk Philharmonic – there will take place a concert of the German pianist and composer, the "king of the boogie woogie" Axel Zwingenberger.
"Germany is often associated with classical music, but Germany is developing further ... There are completely new cultural phenomena in Germany ... It can be said that this is a gift to Tomsk from the Consulate General of Germany in Novosibirsk on the occasion of my first official visit to the Tomsk region", – the consul added.
Blomeyer also said that within the framework of the visit he would meet with the musicians of the Tomsk Philharmonic hall, visit Tomsk State University and communicate with representatives of the administration of the city and the region.
