TOMSK, Jan 25 – RIA Tomsk. More than 11 thousand students are currently studying at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), more than three thousand of which – are newcomers from 44 countries; average age of a TPU student is 23.72 years, which is six months less than a year earlier, the press service of the university reported on Russian Students Day.
On Tatiana Day – the Day of Russian Students – TPU traditionally publishes a “statistical portrait” of a polytechnician student.
“Now more than 11 thousand students study at the university. Among them there are much more young men (7,950 people), than girls (3,754 people). And the average age of a TPU student – is 23.72 years. TPU students are "looked a little younger": last year the average age of TPU student was 24.3 years", – is said in the statement.
It is noted that 3031 students - are foreigners. They came to study in TPU from 44 countries - from India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Colombia, Congo, Korea, Tanzania, South Africa, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Israel, Laos, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Mongolia and other countries.
If it's about the regions of Russia, then students from 66 subjects of the Russian Federation – from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka – study at TPU."Among all the girl students, 122 girls have a name of Tatyana, 33 of them – are freshmen. Most of Tatiana study at the TPU School of Earth Sciences & Engineering – there are 35 of them. And among the university employees this name is born by 168 women. 28 of them work as assistant professors, and two more Tatiana – in the position of professor", – specifies the press service.
Earlier it was reported that at the first course of 2018 in the Tomsk Polytechnic University entered more than 1,500 bachelors and specialists, 1,400 undergraduates. Among them, there are 15 hundred-point holders, 65 olympiad winners, 391 people have certificates with honors. The average score of the Unified State Exam among applicants was 78.45. The geography is also extensive – more than 630 people from other cities of the country and more than 470 from other states entered the university.
Freshmen came to Tomsk Polytechnic University to study from 37 regions of Russia and 20 countries of the world. Undergraduates – from 33 regions of Russia and 18 countries of near and far abroad, such as Brazil, Vietnam, Ghana, Guatemala, Zambia, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, Chile, and so on.
