The organizers began accepting applications from woodworkers to participate in the competitive selection of the XII International Festival of Folk Crafts "Ax Day", which in 2019 will be held from 20 to 25 August in the "Okolitsa" park of the village of Zorkaltsevo, the Tomsk region, one of the organizers of the festival Denis Lykhin told RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that in 2018, the international Tomsk festival-competition of folk crafts "Ax Day" became the most popular for 11 years of its holding: over 150 thousand guests and over 240 craftsmen from different countries took part in the events. In the Tomsk park "Outskirts" were revealed the best among the wood and bark carvers, blacksmiths, potters and stoves.
"The acceptance of applications for participation in the woodcarvers competition is open from March 18. We already see a special interest from potential participants. We expect that there will be more applications this year, so the competitive selection of participants will be even tougher than a year earlier. Of course, it will be hard to choose, as the level of masters grows from year to year", – the interlocutor of the agency told.
This year masters will perform work on a free topic. Four nominations have been proposed for participation – "Architectural object. Individuals", "Architectural object. Crews", "Woodcarvers" and "Park sculpture". Applications are accepted until May 31, inclusive. The participants of the competition who have passed the selection will be announced on June 21."Now we have started accepting applications from carpenters only, in April will begin to accept applications for participation from birch barkers, blacksmiths, potters and stoves", – Lykhin specified.
The "Ax Day" in 2019 will be held from August 20 to August 25.
