TOMSK, Apr 9 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) together with the Maastricht University (Netherlands) developed a program of the international bachelor degree Tomsk International Science Program (TISP); students will profoundly study physics, chemistry, neuroscience, ecology and biomaterials, the press service of TSU reported on Tuesday.
It is specified that the educational project, designed to form among the graduates knowledge and competence, the most in demand in the next 10-20 years, will start on the basis of the TSU Institute of Smart Materials and Technology.
"There are no similar projects in Russian universities, but our partner - Maastricht University has experience of deep problem-oriented education. It launched a similar program as one of the first in the world", - the press service quotes the director of the TSU Center of joint educational programs Olga Maslennikova.
According to her, students will be trained according to the new program only in English. Problem-project training at the junction of five areas - Bio-based materials, Ecology, Neuroscience, Physics, Chemistry. The program also has educational modules on history, applied statistics, data analysis, the development of new research methods, and so on.
"After the first course, students will be able to determine their own learning path - choose the main track, main and related educational modules. The tutors from TSU who have been trained at Maastricht University accompany the students", - clarifies the press service.Within the framework of each module several lectures are provided which will be given by leading specialists from Russian and foreign universities, for example, Terry Callaghan, a scientist of TSU and University of Sheffield, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. TISP students will be able to complete part of their studies at Maastricht University or other universities within the framework of academic mobility programs.
It is added that the entrance examinations for bachelor degree program will be the Unified State Exam in Russian, mathematics and physics, and for foreign applicants - exams, which they will pass in writing in English, mathematics and physics.
