TOMSK, May 31 – RIA Tomsk. The president Vladimir Putin signed a decree assigning the name of the Soviet aircraft designer Nikolay Kamov to the Tomsk airport, follows from the document posted on the official Internet portal of legal information of the Russian Federation on Friday.
Earlier it was reported that at the end of 2018 within the framework of the "Great Names of Russia" project in social networks, on the special website, via the telephone line and in volunteer points, a vote was taken on the choice of names for airports in the country. About 70 thousand people voted for a name for the Tomsk airport on the project website. Most of them supported the nomination of the aircraft designer Nikolay Kamov (28745 votes).
As follows from the text of the decree posted on the official Internet portal of legal information of the Russian Federation, the president Putin has named the 44 airports of the country.
"I decree to appropriate ... the name of N.I. Kamov to the international airport Tomsk (Bogashevo)", - the presidential decree says.
Nikolay Kamov (1902-1973) - is a graduate of Tomsk Technology University (nowadays – Tomsk Polytechnic University). The Soviet aircraft designer, the creator of the first Soviet autogyro of KASKR-1 "Red engineer" (together with the engineer N. Skrzhinsky), the creator of the "Ka" helicopters, the Doctor of Engineering, Hero of Socialist Labour, the winner of the State award of the USSR (1972).
