TOMSK, Jul 3 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) will begin training of foreign experts in the field of nuclear medicine in September, 2019; students from the countries of Africa will be able to study production of radiopharmaceuticals on the basis of the TPU nuclear reactor, the press service of TPU reported on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that the TPU research reactor is the only operating high school educational reactor in Russia. According to the press service, among the working reactors foreign citizens can be trained only here. In September the university starts the master Nuclear Science and Technology program. It unites control of the nuclear power station and nuclear medicine.
"Foreign experts in nuclear medicine will begin to be trained in TPU in September, 2019. It is planned that students from Ghana, Nigeria and Egypt will arrive to study production of radiopharmaceuticals, radiotheraphy and radiodiagnosis to Tomsk in the first set. It will be the only foreign students in Russia for whom lessons will be conducted on the operating atomic object", – it is said in the statement.
It is specified that partners of TPU in the program are the Siberian State Medical University and the Tomsk Regional Oncology Center. The program in nuclear medicine in TPU exists since 2015 for Russian students. Recently training in the program is provided in English."Two students from Egypt who chose the direction of nuclear medicine came to us as a pilot experiment in 2018. Earlier foreigners studied here only on the profile connected with control of the nuclear reactor. Academic year for pioneers were successful, now we are ready to accept more foreigners", – the director of School of Nuclear Science & Engineering of TPU Oleg Dolmatov is quoted in the message.
It is added that TPU takes part in the priority project of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation "Education export" for two years. Students from 48 countries study in the university. Austria, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Egypt, India, Iran, Cyprus, China, Mongolia, the USA, the Czech Republic, France and others are in the list. A share of foreign pupils is 28%. 16 network master programs are implemented in the university, 13 of which – with the participation of foreign partner universities.
