TOMSK, Jul 19 – RIA Tomsk. The team of students of Institute of military education of Tomsk State University (TSU) took the fifth place at a selection stage of the All-Russian championship "Race of Heroes" where civil universities participated on an equal basis with the military educational organizations for the first time, the press service of TSU reported on Friday.
It is specified that the selection stage "Cadet rush" of the competitions "Race of Heroes" was organized for the purpose of increase in prestige of military education and military service under the decree of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation on seven grounds of the military districts of Russia. The TSU team competed in Novosibirsk with cadets of profile military universities and took the fifth place among 13 teams.
"Cadets passed an obstacle course seven kilometers long. About 50 obstacles are located along it: water barriers, walls, cableways, grids, ditches, there was a transfer of boxes with ammunition, running uphill and other tests. Success of the team depended on time of passing of the course", – the teacher of the TSU educational military center Artem Ignatov is quoted in the message.
It is added that four radiophysics – future signal officers and one student of faculty of physical culture entered the TSU team. All of them were pre-selected at the university.
The military education at TSU is more than 90 years old – in 1926 there was an order of the rector Witt Savvin on the organization of military preparation at the university. During this time TSU has trained about 30 thousand servicemen of various specialties, it is a whole army of military physicians, chemists, gunners, motor-shooters, operators and rocketeers, military lawyers, psychologists.
