TSU aeroprobe for cleaning reservoirs from oil get a "quality mark"

TOMSK, Jul 29 – RIA Tomsk. "Aeroprobe" technology, created by scientists of the Biological Institute of Tomsk State University (BI TSU) for cleaning bottom sediments of oil-polluted reservoirs, was the first in Russia to receive a "quality mark" from experts of Rosprirodnadzor, the representative of the press service of the university told RIA Tomsk on Monday.

Earlier it was reported that in 2016, scientists of the Biological Institute of Tomsk State University patented the aeroprobe – it's a device which allows to clean the bottom of oil-polluted reservoirs. Its principle of operation is to supply air under pressure to the bottom of a reservoir, after which bottom oil "sticks" to air bubbles and rises to the surface. The device was tested, it was planned to apply in the European Union countries.

"According to the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation, each new technology that has the potential to influence the environment must undergo a state environmental review. To evaluate the new approach, experts were provided with all the information on the results of pilot tests", – the director of the BI TSU Danil Vorobyev is quoted.

It is specified that the development has undergone a comprehensive assessment for a variety of indicators. An analysis conducted by experts showed that the "Aeroprobe" has a high efficiency (the concentration of oil in the lake has decreased by 50 times), while the technology does not have a negative impact on the environment.

The "Aeroprobe" technology <...> was the first in Russia to receive a "quality mark" from experts of Rosprirodnadzor. According to their assessment, the method developed by biologists is not only environmentally friendly, but also is highly effective. Passing state expertise opens "green light" for this technology for its use on the territory of oil-producing regions", – adds the press service.

In particular, it is planned to use the new instrument in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, where a half of the Russian oil is produced.
