TOMSK, Jul 31 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) in August will hold an open lecture of the founder and managing director of the KAPPA Engineering company Olivier Houze; he will tell Tomsk citizens how automation in the development field affects the daily routine of engineers, is reported on Wednesday on the website of the university.
According to information from open sources, KAPPA - is the company which main focus is software development for the oil industry. It's founded in 1987. Currently it provides over 6000 commercial licenses for software used by more than 600 companies around the world.
"At Tomsk Polytechnic University (building №.19, Usov Street, 4a) will take place the lecture of the founder and managing director of the KAPPA Engineering company Olivier Houze: "Automation and data analysis in the field of field development and production technology: the expected impact on the workflow and daily routine of engineers", – is said in the statement.
It is specified that the lecture is scheduled for August 8. Time – 18.30-20.30. It is previously necessary to undergo online registration. The language of the lecture – is English, simultaneous translation is provided.
"According to Houze, the oil industry is undergoing a digital transformation, the scale of which we have yet to properly evaluate. Humanity is at the center of a real storm, which is the result of a combination of several factors", – is noted on the website.Such factors, in opinion of Houze, are the oil crisis, change of generations and demographic decline as a result of the 1986 crisis, transition to cloud solutions, need for automation, recent breakthrough in artificial intelligence technologies, widespread use of smartphones and other mobile devices.
"The daily routine of an oil engineer will change significantly in the next ten years. Within the framework of an open lecture will be evaluated factors given above and their impact on the analysis of dynamic data in the field of field development", – the press service reports.
About the speaker
Olivier Houze graduated the Paris Polytechnic school (Ecole Polytechnique), and also has a master's degree in oil engineering from Stanford University. He founded KAPPA Engineering company in 1987 with Dominique Bourdet after four years of work at Flopetrol-Johnston (Schlumberger).
Olivier wrote the program code for the first versions of Saphir software, which is currently the oil standard in the field of well testing and analysis. Everyone can become listeners of the lecture.
