TOMSK, Aug 15 – RIA Tomsk. The authorities of the Tomsk region are planning to plant apple trees and poplars grown in Kazakhstan on the streets of the regional center, the deputy governor of the Tomsk region for agro-industrial policy and environmental management Andrey Knorr reported RIA Tomsk.
According to him, earlier he visited the Institute of Microbiology and Virology, located in the capital of Kazakhstan Nur-Sultan.
"In Kazakhstan, at the Institute of Microbiology and Virology was bred the poplar – very good, without fluff and fast growing, they also grow Nedzvetsky’s apple tree – it’s an urban type apple tree, it has not only apples and flowers, but also beautiful cherry leaves. We want to contact the institute so that to test trees here for frost resistance", – Knorr said.
Earlier it was reported that the governor of the Tomsk region Sergei Zhvachkin instructed the mayor of the regional center to provide an action plan for updating green spaces within two months, to determine which trees are best planted on the city streets. He also instructed his subordinates to develop a program to replace lawns in Tomsk, in particular, to update the soil and carry out landscaping, in order to eventually update the look of the city.
