TOMSK, Sep 12 - RIA Tomsk. The British edition Times Higher Education (THE) on Thursday published its annual ranking of the world's leading universities; Tomsk State University (TSU) retained its position in the ranking by entering the group of 501-600, Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) entered the rating group 601-800, reported on the official website of the rating of THE.
Earlier it was reported that in 2019 (Times Higher Education Rankings is relevant for the year ahead), TSU and TPU were included in the 501-600 group. The first line of the ranking was occupied by University of Oxford, the second - by University of Cambridge, the third place was shared by California Institute of Technology and Stanford University.
According to the website of Times Higher Education Rankings, the published part of the 2020 ranking includes more than 1300 universities in the world from 92 countries. Among Russian universities Moscow State University named after Lomonosov is in the lead (the 189th place). TSU, like last year, entered the 501-600 group (in addition to TSU, Novosibirsk State University and Peter the Great St. Petersburg University are in the 501-600 group) and is the fifth among Russian universities.
TPU was included in the group 601-800 of the global rating of Times Higher Education. From Russian universities, this group also includes Kazan Federal University, National University of Science and Technology "MISiS" and St. Petersburg State University. In the Russian part of the THE rating table TPU is located on the 12th line.University of Oxford traditionally ranks first in the 2020 ranking, California Institute of Technology has risen second, and University of Cambridge is the third.
Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) - is one of the most influential annual world rankings of universities, compiled by the Times Higher Education journal. It takes into account five indicators: quality of teaching; volume and authority of scientific activity and income from it; citation; share of foreign students and teachers and international cooperation; income derived from the practical application of scientific potential.
