TOMSK, Dec 5 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) and Chinese specialists plan to create a VR complex to control pre-launch conditions in astronauts, and for relieve stress and rest directly in outer space, taking as a basis the earlier development of Tomsk scientists, the press service of the university told RIA Tomsk.
According to her, a preliminary agreement on cooperation between the university and colleagues from China was reached during the China-Russian engineering and technical forum "Innovative Aerospace Industry Sharing the Future", which was held at the end of November in the Chinese province of Fujian.
"The associate professor of the TUSUR Department of Integrated Information Security of Electronic Computing Systems Yuliya Loboda conducted at the forum a demonstration of a stress relieving complex developed with the use of neurointerfaces and augmented reality technologies by the Tomsk Neuromech company with the participation of TUSUR scientists", – the interlocutor of the agency said.
As Loboda explained to the press service, a person puts on glasses and sensors, gets into a certain location in virtual reality, where he performs various actions, concentrates or relaxes and thereby can change some objects in virtual reality by the power of thought.
"We combined biosensors with Oculus Quest VR glasses, which can work without a computer connection. To carry out special exercises in virtual reality, we created program blocks – small locations aimed at a person relaxing or, conversely, attention concentration", – explains Loboda.The complex was tested at the Federal Siberian Research Clinical Center under Federal Biomedical Agency of Russia (Krasnoyarsk), as a result of which a positive effect on reducing stress when using this technology was confirmed. Currently, developers have filed an application for an international patent, as there are no analogues of this development.
As the press service of the university explains with reference to Loboda, Chinese colleagues became interested in using such a complex as an additional psychological preparation for astronauts and pilots to fly, as well as for use directly in outer space to relieve tension and loads.
