TOMSK, Feb 14 – RIA Tomsk. Postgraduate student of Tomsk State University (TSU) Dmitry Kokin is developing a new method of digital signal processing, which will improve the noise immunity and quality of 5G communications, and can also be used for next-generation radio communications - 6G and 7G, the university’s press service said on Friday.

With reference to Kokin it is explained that the topic of communication quality does not lose its relevance: an avalanche-like increase in the number of subscribers is expected in the near future - 5G standard provides for connection to the network of one million gadgets per 1 "square". Therefore, there is a tendency for the transition of radio communication systems to increasingly high-frequency and broadband signals, which provide an even greater speed of information transfer.

"I am considering one of the possible implementations of communication systems of the future. <...> According to preliminary estimates, the implementation of this methodology will provide the possibility of simultaneous operation of up to 20 subscribers on one frequency. At the moment, none of the traditional high-speed communication systems provides such an opportunity", - the scientist is quoted in the message.

It is clarified that the project to develop a pseudo-random digital signal modulation method, which Kokin is working on, is supported by the "UMNIK" program of the the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE): in 2020-2021, postgraduate student will receive 500 thousand rubles to implement his idea.

“Ordinary radio signals - are sinusoidal oscillations that are modulated by bits of an informational message. Postgraduate student proposes to modulate the random signal instead of the sinusoid, which has a narrow spectrum. It will resemble white Gaussian noise in its form, which spectrum is much wider than that of traditional signals and possesses high noise immunity", - is explained in the message.

According to Kokin, broadband signals together with the proposed methods of coherent detection will provide a high degree of information security, the ability to simultaneously operate multiple subscribers in a common frequency band, that is, several subscribers will use the same frequency without affecting each other. The method can also be applied in the development of next-generation radio communication systems - 6G and 7G.
