Tomsk UMSSoft company developed a thermometric gateway that automatically and without contact measures a person’s temperature, and makes it easier for doctors to work in a coronavirus pandemic; Russian and foreign companies have already become interested in the development, the head of the company's R&D department Vladimir Polovkov told RIA Tomsk.
He specified that UMSSoft specializes in the development of information systems and complexes for medical institutions. Thermometric gateway - is their latest development.
“This is a non-contact thermometer that works in automatic mode. It allows to organize an operative measurement of a person’s body temperature in a stream. Previously, the device was part of our complex. Based on the current situation, when it is necessary to quickly control people's flows and process large amounts of data, we decided to make such a stand-alone device", - Polovkov said.
He explained that it takes about 3 seconds for a person to measure his temperature, for this it's enough to approach the device. If the temperature is elevated, the red indicator will light up and a warning signal will sound, if everything is in order, the green indicator will light up. The device is designed to work indoors, for example, at the entrance to a building, near turnstiles, at checkpoints - in hospitals or other institutions.
“The development of the device took several weeks. But this is not some kind of hasty development - we took the device that is part of our diagnostic complex and made it stand-alone. This diagnostic module worked well in our equipment, therefore, to speed up the development process, a decision was made to separate this device into a separate housing", - he said.The agency’s interlocutor added that there are already pre-orders for new development from Russian and foreign companies.
It was previously reported that an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new type of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was recorded in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019. The disease was called COVID-19. On March 11, WHO announced a coronavirus pandemic. In the Tomsk region, four cases of COVID-19 infection were recorded. Three patients have already been cured, the fourth is in a hospital in one of the districts of the region.
