TOMSK, Jun 6 – RIA Tomsk. The creation of the structure of the Big University in Tomsk is a unique experience for the country as a whole, said the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov the day before during a direct line, stressing that he believes in the success of the Tomsk citizens.
It was previously reported that the "Big University" project was launched in the Tomsk region in 2019. It involves all universities and research institutes with the preservation of autonomy and legal independence.
"I know what complex processes are going on in Tomsk, but I think that this (the creation of the Big University) is a unique experience for the country, and Tomsk citizens – are great fellows, because (it is necessary) to move together, to find a compromise ... And what is a partnership in many cases? This is a step forward, somewhere it is necessary to sacrifice your interests for the sake of a common cause”, – the minister said.
According to Falkov, unfortunately, partnership prospects are often not paid attention to. “But Tomsk citizens are not just talking, they are building the university. I think this is a long process, it is directly related to the autonomy of the university, because by building an effective partnership, you are forced to share part of sovereignty”, – the head of the ministry said.
"I would say, knowing the Tomsk citizens, everything will surely work out!" – Falkov summed up.
The project of the Big University is being implemented by the Tomsk Consortium of Universities and Scientific Organizations. It includes seven universities, 10 academic institutes and the Tomsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS. The structure provides interaction of the authorities with the scientific and educational complex of the region and is the link between industry, applied science, university and academic environment.
