TOMSK, Jun 22 – RIA Tomsk. Experts of Tomsk State University (TSU) will develop a new approach to education at the university, its basis will be a format of mixed learning, built on the combination of distance and full-time education, the press service of the university said on Monday.
Earlier it was reported that due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus infection in March, all Tomsk universities, including TSU, switched to a distance learning format. Lectures, as well as tests and exams, are held online.According to the press service, the transition to mixed learning involves a combination of offline formats, when students in a classroom interact with a teacher and online – using various digital tools. Experts plan to use the experience of Russian and foreign universities gained during the forced transition to distance learning.
"Nobody ever thought that we would have to urgently and massively switch to the online communication mode. <...> It is important for us to summarize the experience gained and the cases of Russian and world universities, and then offer a fundamentally new education strategy for the future", – the TSU vice-rector for academic affairs Evgeny Lukov is quoted in the message.
It is added that special attention will be paid to the proportion of combining online and offline on each educational program, since direct communication between the teacher and the student, as well as between students, is of particular value.
"The most important thing is – that there should be synergy, not a substitute for distance. In our case, the electronic environment – is the environment that allows to manage the independent work of students - Moodle, Google Classroom. The student works evenly, and social interaction is complemented by interaction in the electronic environment", – the press service quotes the director of the TSU Center for Advanced Studies and Retraining Svetlana Veledinskaya.
