TOMSK, Jul 31 – RIA Tomsk. Students and teachers of Russian universities in the new academic year will be required to wear masks, at the entrance to the university their temperature will be measured, reported on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation with reference to the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov.

Earlier it was reported that due to the threat of the spread of COVID-19 in early April, all Tomsk universities switched to distance learning, a number of them declared their readiness to maintain the distance learning format in the new academic year.

“The wearing of masks will be a mandatory requirement (in the new academic year). This will allow to organize the educational process, observing the rules for the prevention of a new coronavirus infection ... By the upcoming new academic year, all entrances to educational buildings should be provided with a thermometry system. This is necessary to prevent new foci and reduce the risk of infection", - Falkov is quoted in the message.

It is clarified that those whose analysis for the presence of antibodies to COVID-19 showed a positive result and provided the appropriate certificate, will not be able to comply with this requirement. In addition, teachers may not use masks while delivering lectures. Universities will have to provide masks for students and teachers.

It is planned that special devices will appear in university classrooms that will ensure regular disinfection of the air, the report adds.

Students from countries with which air traffic will be established by the beginning of the academic year, in order to be admitted to classes, will have to observe a 14-day quarantine after entering Russia and pass a virus test. "For those who will not be able to enter the country, universities will provide access to training sessions in the online format. Nonresident students arriving from the "red zone", in order to start their studies, will also have to take a coronavirus test", - the message explains.

The minister also noted that universities have the right to independently decide whether they will start the educational process in September. "Universities have the right to postpone the beginning of the academic year by two months. However, 92% of Russian higher educational institutions are ready to start the academic year on September 1", - Falkov's words are quoted on the website.
