TOMSK, Sep 27 – RIA Tomsk. The team of the Tomsk region took the first place at the Russian Finswimming Championships; 8 Tomsk athletes won prizes in various disciplines, and Alena Parshina set a Russian record and exceeded the European record, the president of the regional Federation of Underwater Sport Natalya Grechikhina told RIA Tomsk on Sunday.
As reported on the website of the Tomsk Regional Underwater Sports Federation, the Russian Underwater Sports Championship is being held in 2020 at the "Nevskaya Volna" St. Petersburg Water Sports Center on September 24-27. Athletes compete in 17 disciplines.
"We (the team of the Tomsk region) took the overall team first place. In the individual competitions we took prizes in four more relay races. There are 16 people in the team, half of them - are with medals at different distances", - Grechikhina told.
"In a pandemic, preparation was done in a very short time, because our swimming pool was launched in August. This is very little. In such difficult conditions, athletes were able to prepare and adequately represent the Tomsk region at the Russian Championship. This is very great", - Grechikhina said.
Earlier it was reported that in 2019 the team of the Tomsk region took the third place in the overall team competition, losing to the Novosibirsk region and the Krasnoyarsk Krai. For the first time, the competition took place in Tomsk, at the "Zvezdny" water sports center.
