TOMSK, Dec 22 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk State University (TSU) held a presentation of a portable medical oxygen generator that has no analogues, it runs on a special solid fuel; in industrial production, the cost of the device will not exceed 10 thousand rubles, and investors from France and the Netherlands are showing interest in it, the RIA Tomsk reports.
According to the correspondent, on Tuesday, TSU hosted a presentation of a portable oxygen generator, which is focused on use in medicine. The device in the form of a metal cylinder weighs about a kilogram. For carrying, it can be placed in a backpack.
One of the authors of the development is Alexander Vorozhtsov, TSU Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation. According to him, the device was created in cooperation with scientists of the Federal Research and Production Center Altai. The generator produces 250 liters of oxygen from one kilogram of fuel.
"In fact, this is a rocket engine, which instead of the usual rocket gases gives pure oxygen, and with a low consumption that a patient can consume. Oxygen is of very high purity – 99.5%... There are no such devices in the world that produce oxygen at room temperature. Both the Dutch and the French are interested in it", – Vorozhtsov told reporters.
"If the device is modified to an industrial design, then it will, of course, be in demand in different areas... Firstly, in ambulances, in intensive care vehicles, and secondly, in situations when oxygen-dependent patients need to be transferred from one institution to another and there is an expectation of transportation", – Deputy Governor of the Tomsk region for Social Policy Ivan Deev said at the presentation.
