TOMSK, Sep 24 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk State University (TSU) graduate and CEO of JSC TEMZ (Tomsk Electromechanical Plant) Ivan Pushkarev has contributed 500 thousand rubles to the endowment fund of the university; the investment income from the donation will be used to pay scholarships in 2022 to talented students of mathematical specialties, according to the university's website on Friday.
Earlier it was reported that an endowment fund was established at TSU in 2010. Its capital is being raised through donations from alumni, staff, friends and partners of the university. The endowment amounts to 52 million rubles. More than 1.3 thousand patrons have already made donations.
"Ivan Pushkarev, the general director of the Tomsk Electromechanical Plant, received his second higher education at TSU. <...> Pushkarev made a contribution to the endowment of the university in the amount of 500 thousand roubles. On the investment income from the graduate's charitable contribution a scholarship for mathematics students will be established at TSU", – the statement reads.
It adds that the new scholarships will be awarded from 2022.
"Why for mathematicians? Our entire environment is quietly described by mathematical formulas. I believe that the exact sciences instil in a person a unique ability in the future not just to make decisions, but also to systematise his life", – Pushkarev is quoted in the message.
