The Minobrnauki published universities that will receive additional financial support under the Priority 2030 program; the list includes 106 Russian universities, four of which are Tomsk – (TSU), polytechnic (TPU), control systems and radioelectronics (TUSUR) and Siberian Medical University (SSMU), the website of the Ministry reported.
Earlier it was reported that in June, the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education launched a new Program of Strategic Academic Leadership (PSAL) Priority 2030 for enhancing the competitiveness of universities. In the first stage, around 100-120 universities will be selected to participate, and they will receive additional funding. Five universities from Tomsk have applied: TSU, TPU, TUSUR, SSMU and Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB).
"The Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation selected 106 universities from 49 cities of the Russian Federation for the Priority 2030 program. These institutions will receive the basic part of the grant in the amount of 100 million rubles," says the message on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The list includes 28 universities from Moscow, 11 from Saint-Petersburg, and 15 from Siberian Federal Districts, including Tomsk universities: TSU, TPU, TUSUR and SSMU.
The total number of strategic projects of all participants of Priority 2030 is 409. More than half of them are focused on digital transformation, monitoring and control of greenhouse gas emissions, emphasizes the report. As previously reported, Tomsk universities have included a total of 17 key projects in their applications, in the development of which they intend to use each other's potential.
"In order to increase the global competitiveness of universities of the Russian Federation... the Council for Support of University Development Programs within the framework of the Priority 2030 program implementation will hold an additional competitive selection (among 106 program participants for additional funding)," says the report.
TSUAB was not included in the list of winners in 2021, but it was officially assigned the status of a candidate for participation in Priority 2030 starting next year. As a representative of the university explained to the agency, unlike the universities whose applications were found to be inconsistent with the goals of the state program, the application of TSUAB was previously approved.
