TOMSK, Oct 20 – RIA Tomsk. Archaeologists of Tomsk State University (TSU) have transferred for storage to the State Hermitage Museum the finds discovered in 2021 during excavations at the Oglakhty burial ground in Khakassia; delivery of the valuables from Tomsk to Saint Petersburg by car took a week, the RIA Tomsk correspondent reports from the scene.
Earlier it was reported that participants of the complex archeological expedition of Tomsk State University and the Hermitage Museum have discovered at the Oglakhty burial ground the burials with objects of unique preservation. Wooden utensils, fragments of fabric and plaster funerary mask were found at the burial site for the first time since the 1960s. A week ago the members of the expedition set off in a university car to St. Petersburg with the finds.
"We reached St. Petersburg in exactly one week. The finds have been deposited at the Hermitage", – the correspondent reports.
According to Svetlana Pankova, curator of the Oglakhty Collection of the State Hermitage, the finds are waiting for restoration: "It is very good that our restorer was at the excavation and knows how and in what conditions the things were found".
"When everything has been restored, the finds will be studied: they will be described, analogies will be sought, and the materials of which they are made will be studied. In addition, we will make an exhibition – both "live" and virtual", – she said.
"The "live" exhibition will bring together objects already kept in the Hermitage and new finds. She also added that work on the virtual exhibition has already begun.
