TOMSK, Nov 5 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk State University (TSU) developed system of monitoring of condition and margin of safety of Vanino Bulk Terminal which is the most modern loading coal terminal in the east of the Russian Federation, is reported on Thursday on the website of the higher education institution.
It is specified that coal goes to Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, the USA and other countries of the Pacific Rim (PR) from the mooring. Works are performed for JSC Daltransugol which provides export of coal to ATR and is subsidiary of one of the leading coal-mining companies of the world and the largest producer of coal in the Russian Federation – the SUEK company.
"The mooring experiences huge strain which is aggravated by a wind, waves, pressure of ice floes. To control a condition of a huge design of the mooring, TSU scientists developed the system of monitoring including sensors of deformations of MUST, GPS sensors and mathematical model which removes information and predicts behavior of the balk mooring", – it is told in the message.

The system considers a set of parameters, including mooring, loading from waves, a wind, the movement of the loading conveyor. The condition of the design is traced, and critical conditions are fixed. Thus the system analyzes contemporary records, makes examination of durability of the mooring, can predict behavior of any site of the design in the changing conditions.
According to TSU, the mooring is in Khabarovsk Krai in the settlement of Vanino on the coast of Strait of Tartary. The platform of the mooring 350 meters long goes to the sea, it is held by more than one hundred 25-meter steel piles filled with concrete. Loaders move with a speed about a ton a second, fill bulk carriers with coal.
"We tested system of monitoring within a year. <…> developers traced a condition of the mooring in Strait of Tartary. The system showed the efficiency in operation. It was successfully introduced in practice. Now the mooring is under vigilant control therefore emergence of surprises is excluded", – the head of the basic center of design of scientific research institute of TSU Vladimir Butov is quoted.
